Christian writer Gloria Cassity Stargel shares her own spiritual journey in The Healing, One Family's Victorious Struggle With Cancer. The book chronicles the four years she and her husband fight for his life against a virulent malignancy — a rare form of non-Hodgkin's lymphoma — reticulum cell sarcoma. After much healing prayer, the Stargels witness a modern-day miracle.
Besides being an author, Gloria is a free-lance writer and an assignment writer for Guideposts Magazine. Her inspirational writing, simple and from-the-heart, makes it like reading a letter from a good friend.
Gloria became affiliated with Guideposts in 1990 when a winning manuscript earned her an invitation to attend their much-sought-after workshop in Rye, New York. In addition to Guideposts, her award-winning articles are published in dozens of periodicals including Decision Magazine and compilations such as the series Chicken Soup for the Soul. A member of Phi Beta Sigma Honor Society, Gloria holds a degree in Social Work/Journalism from Brenau University. Other affiliations include Mu Rho Sigma, Beta Sigma Phi, Progressive Arts Study Club, Northeast Georgia Writers and National League of American Pen Women. A "people person," she thrives on her work at church as an official greeter. Among her volunteer efforts for the community, Gloria served eight years on the board of American Cancer Society. |

An avid tennis player until the orthopedic surgeon said "no more," she enjoys aerobics, reading, and sharing her motivational book with its healing testimony in programs and interviews.
Gloria and her cancer-survivor husband, Joe — a former mayor, retired judge and Marine Corps officer — still live in the North Georgia town where both grew up. They have two grown sons, a daughter-in-law, a twelve-year-old grandson, and a half-grown kitten named (for good reason) Xena, the Warrior Princess. You're invited to meet them all as Gloria shares their Christian miracle within the pages of The Healing, One Family's Victorious Struggle With Cancer. |
